STILES: Part-time Premier Ford has nothing to show for taxpayer-funded U.S. trip

QUEEN’S PARK — Official Opposition Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles says that Doug Ford returned from his trip to the United States with nothing to show for it:

“Doug Ford did two things on this trip,” said Stiles. “Light taxpayer dollars on fire, and inflate his ego.

“Ford is so busy pretending to be Prime Minister that he seems to have forgotten who he actually works for: the people of Ontario.

“This glorified photo-op proves that nobody takes him seriously enough to even have a meeting. He claimed that they rolled out the red carpet for him, but had nothing to show for it. What did Ontarians get out of this? Taking taxpayer-funded flights to hand out pamphlets outside the White House won’t lower grocery costs in our province.

“The Premier shut the Ontario Legislature down for 21 weeks, after less than a month of sitting days, because he couldn’t handle the heat. Now, while people in Ontario are barely scraping by, Doug Ford is kicking off his extended summer vacation by sightseeing in Washington on your dime.

“Doug Ford’s Captain Canada peacocking isn’t fooling the people back home, who watched him vote against scrapping the tax on food, after he gutted their OSAP. Ontario deserves better than a part-time Premier.”
